My name is Zehma, and I am a painter currently based in London, England.

I began painting with oils during my first of two summers spent in Lisbon, Portugal, a place that has played a formative role in my artistic development and appears in many of my works. In the summer of 2024, I was an artist in residence at MAD Marvila in Lisbon, working among talented and inspiring artists from around the world.

My work is primarily figurative and realist, focused on people and food in intimate, communal, or everyday settings. My most recent series explores the parallelism of rules and etiquette in the game of pool and at the dinner table.
